Thomas Beron 1980

Thomas Beron 1980 served 27 years in the active and reserve components of the United States Army. After graduating from Country Day, Thomas attended Tulane University where he graduated with a BA in economics. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army and served nine years on active duty as an infantry officer. His assignments included tours in Berlin, Washington, D.C., and command of an infantry company during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After leaving active duty, Thomas returned to New Orleans and attended Tulane Law School. During and after law school, he continued in the military as a member of the Louisiana National Guard where he commanded military units at various levels. In 2005, Thomas returned to active duty in response to Hurricane Katrina and was the commander of all National Guard forces deployed to New Orleans from October through December of 2005. In 2009, Thomas was promoted to Brigadier General and retired from duty in 2011. Thomas is most proud of being a graduate of both the U.S. Army and German Army Ranger Courses. In addition to his undergraduate and law degrees, he earned an MA from the University of Virginia and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College. He was also awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge for service in Southwest Asia and earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge during his service in the Berlin Brigade.
