Country Day’s athletic program provides every student, in Grades 5 – 12, the opportunity to participate on an athletic team. The goal of Country Day Athletics is to provide the opportunity for all students to build self-confidence and team spirit, and develop their potential as individuals and members of a team to the best of their abilities. Our “no-cut” policy allows for students to take part in this athletic experience. We are proud that over 80 percent of our middle and upper school students participate in at least one sport.
Student participation and quality coaching are the foundation for the success of our athletic teams and program. Country Day has produced 32 state championship teams in ten different sports since 2000. Peer coaches, at the district, regional, and state levels, have recognized our coaches as “the best.” We have had four student-athletes receive the Gatorade Player of the Year Award for their respective sport, with two being recognized twice. We have had several Country Day graduates that have recently or are currently participating in college athletic programs at: Howard University, Johns Hopkins, Louisiana State University, Loyola University, Rhodes College, Roanoke College, Spring Hill College, Tufts University, Tulane University, University Louisiana-Lafayette, University of New Orleans, University of North Carolina, University of the South, and Williams College.
