International Student School Experience

Because we understand curriculum as an expansive enterprise, we believe students must have the chance to experience the wider world beyond the classroom. Over the years, Country Day students have traveled internationally through school-sponsored trips to locations such as France, Spain, China, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.

Country Day accepts applications from international students across all grade levels, from Lower, Middle, and Upper School, to apply for admission. We welcome families and students from across the globe to be embraced by our warm community and to graduate from Country Day fully prepared for success in an American university or anywhere their lives will take them. Upper school students can be considered for full-time admission with the intent of graduating from Country Day, or they may attend as visiting students for a minimum of six weeks and up to the full school year.

Recently, on campus, we have had students from China, Ireland, Germany, and Spain, to name a few.

Requirements for Admission Include (May Vary by Grade Level)

  • Completion of our school's online application
  • Completion of our school's Record Release Form, which will allow us to contact each applicant's school for records
  • Report cards and/or transcripts
  • Standardized test scores
  • Completion of the school's teacher recommendation forms
  • Required testing varies by grade level for applicants to Pre-K through Grade 12.
  • Completion of school’s writing sample and virtual interview for applicants to Grades 6 -12
Applicant families must provide Country Day with the email address of an English-speaking school administrator to facilitate the applicant's record collection process at his/her international school.

English proficiency is required of all international student applicants seeking admission into Grades 6-12. In some instances, Country Day may recommend or require English Language Learning (ELL) support so that the student may best meet the expectations of our curriculum.

Housing

Country Day is not able to provide housing for international students; therefore, international students are required to live with their parents or with family friends arranged by the student's biological parents.

Student Exchange and Visitor Program

Country Day is recognized by the Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) as a SEVIS approved school with the ability to issue I-20 forms. An I-20 form from Country Day will allow prospective international students to obtain a United States F-1 Student Visa.
