University of Virginia, BA in Mathematics, MAT in Mathematics
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
The energy from my students. And sharing the wonders of math.
What do you enjoy most about Country Day?
I appreciate the educational philosophy at CD. I enjoy working with a community of learners. I especially enjoy the lunches : )
If you had pursued another profession what would it have been (or what was it if you did something else in the past)?

If you could do anything other than teach, what would you like to do?

Tell me about an interesting volunteer gig, vacation, hobby, or other experience outside of work?
My family and I are in the process on training our 1 year old puppy to point and retrieve. It's an ongoing process and requires constant reinforcement with commands. We even have pigeons that are a part of his training. Baby pigeons are really strange looking!
Have you won any awards that you don't mind bragging about (professionally or otherwise)?
No major awards :( But in Virginia I was voted Hero of Week at the local radio station one time (nominated by a student), and then I was Teacher of the Week for the Times-Picayune long ago when they did that.
What is a secret about you that you don't mind sharing?
I play Candy Crush all the time. Not Soda Crush or Jelly Crush but Candy Crush Saga in its purest form. I am on level 586.
Do you speak any foreign languages? If not, which would you like to speak if you had the opportunity to learn it?
I took Latin in high school. I don't speak it, but it definitely helped me out on the SAT!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would go to the MOON!
What historical or literary figure do you most admire?
Chuck Yeager because he was the first person to break the speed of sound. His courage is inspiring.
