This past week, the 7th grade headed out for a three-day outdoor adventure at the Bogue Chitto Nature Preserve near Franklinton, LA. Students established a base camp in the Bogue Chitto State Park. From there, groups spent three days, exploring the rich and diverse natural environment hiking along a six mile nature trail. Students also developed and practiced canoe skills on the Bogue Chitto River in preparation for a final trip down the river.
While in camp, students learned a number of camping skills from preparing food, setting up tents, and starting a campfire. In the evening students enjoyed learning about the night sky and the many constellations as well as making s'mores over a campfire.
Over the three days, students enjoyed time together as a group, learning new skills and gaining a deeper appreciation for our natural surroundings. -Mr. Frantz
