SDLC and POCC Conference Snapshot

Faculty attended the 2021 People of Color Conference and students attended the Student Diversity Leadership Training Conference held virtually this fall.

When asked about their biggest take-a-ways from the conference, this is what our students shared. "SDLC gave me the courage and confidence to stand up more as a leader to make a change for the better in my community; at the same time, SDLC has taught me how to embrace my own unique aspects and how to love myself in a way I wasn't able to before," shared Ace Hayne. "The Student Diversity Leadership Conference was an enriching experience because it provided a safe and respectful environment to learn and celebrate each other's differences.  Working with other students from across the country emphasized the impact and importance of community building beyond our own campus and to visualize meaningful community building on a grand scale," shared Olivia O'Bell."There is nothing more important than sitting back and reflecting on how to better yourself and your community. Without taking time to work on yourself, you can never perform at your full potential. Our community is important and must be protected," shared Nicole Kazour.
