34 Students Inducted into the National Honor Society

Metairie Park Country Day School’s Chapter of the National Honor Society invites students to apply for membership during their second semester if they maintain a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.4 or higher, are enrolled in a minimum of two academic honors/AP Classes, and fulfill or exceed the required number of community service hours. The application includes several short essays about the Country Day community, academic goals, personal goals, and leadership aspirations and abilities. All members pledge to uphold the tenets of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character, standards of excellence established by the nation’s oldest and largest secondary school recognition program.

This year, 34 students were inducted into the National Honor Society, bringing our Chapter to hold 76 current members for the 2023-2024 academic year.

  • Four Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Metairie Park Country Day School is proud to announce that four seniors, Marygrace de la Cruz, Pierce Hatheway, Sarah Heebe, and Cooper Woods, have been named Semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program, a national academic competition for recognition and scholarship that began in 1955. Semifinalists are selected based on their excellent PSAT scores.

Over 1.3 million juniors enrolled in 21,000 high schools entered the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of United States high school seniors, representing the highest-scoring entrants in each state. These academically talented students can continue to compete for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships that will be awarded in the spring. Congratulations to our students!
