In Practice: Professional Learning

With the goal of improving our student academic, social-emotional, and overall learning experience at Country Day, our faculty and staff are reaching for the stars as they begin the 2022-2023 Professional Learning Program.

Each faculty/staff member has chosen one of 12 areas to research and study, including active learning, computational thinking, social-emotional learning, assessment, blended learning, classroom management, and diversity/equity/inclusion (DEI), to name a few. Through their learning journey, these individuals will take all they have learned, present it (in some fashion) to our leadership team, and the most innovative and engaging opportunities will be selected and implemented.

Faculty have also committed their time towards learning from experts in the field of DEI:
  • Suzanne Perlis attended the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University
  • Meb Norton attended the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies Summer Institute
  • Shannon Barrilleaux attended the White Privilege Symposium
  • Cecilia Leon-Drago, Jenny Irwin, and Donna Thomas attended the People of Color Conference
  • Ninnette Varisco and Pam Guter attended the NAIS Diversity Leadership Institute
More to come!
