Country Day's separate Lower and Middle/Upper School libraries hold a vast wealth of resources in literature, research, audio/visual materials, and technological tools to help all students at every level learn the skills and the joys of exploring for knowledge. Check the Library Resource page in CD Connect for the database passwords or ask a librarian.
The libraries contain over 60,000 volumes, more than 100 periodicals and newspapers. Students of all ages enjoy unlimited checkouts of books with no overdue fines. The libraries' computer network provides students instant access to the world of reference material, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, indexes, atlases, almanacs, and periodical/newspaper databases.

Mr. Chris M. Young

Middle and Upper School Librarian Chris Young graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television Production. He began his career in education in 2001, teaching middle school math, science and technology classes for ten years in Los Angeles and New Orleans. He opened the new library at Edward Hynes Charter School in Lakeview in 2011, where he worked as the elementary and middle school librarian for three years before coming to Country Day.
Lower Library Assistant Laura Michaud worked for many years as an early childhood educator before following her love of books to the publishing industry, where she worked for Little, Brown and Company, Time Warner Trade Publishing, and Candlewick Press. Laura has a passion for writing that keeps her active in various writing workshops with local authors.
