Graduation Requirements

Students are required to take English in 9th-12th grades and earn credit in the following courses:

• English I or Honors English I
• English II or Honors English II
• English III or AP English Literature
• English IV or AP English Language

Students are required to complete a third level in one World Language. 

• French I, Honors French I, Spanish I, or Honors Spanish I
• French II, Honors French II, Spanish II, or Honors Spanish II
• French III, Honors French III, Spanish III, or Honors Spanish III

A credit earned in 8th grade for level 1 may be accepted based on the curriculum. Optional World Language electives may be accepted based on the curriculum. Optional World Language electives include French IV, Honors French IV, French V, Honors French V, AP French, Spanish IV, Spanish V, Honors Spanish V, and AP Spanish.

Students are required to earn credit in the following courses:

• Algebra I or Honors Algebra I
• Geometry or Honors Geometry
• Algebra II or Honors Algebra II
• Pre-Calculus or Honors Pre-Calculus

A credit earned in 8th grade for Algebra I may be accepted based on the curriculum Optional Math electives include Honors Calculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Math Modeling, and Statistics. 

Students are required to earn credit in the following courses:

• Biology or Honors Biochemistry
• Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, or AP Chemistry
• Physics, Honors Physics, or AP Physics
• Physical, Earth, or Environmental Science (with Honors option)

A credit earned in 8th grade for Physical Science may be accepted based on the curriculum. Optional Science electives include AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and Environmental Science (with Honors Option).

Students are required to earn credit in the following courses:

• World History / Honors World History
• Civics, Honors Civics, or AP Government
• United States History, AP United States History
• World Geography, Western Civilization, Economics, or AP European History

A credit earned in 8th grade for World Geography may be accepted based on the curriculum. Optional History electives include African American History, AP European History, AP Government, Western Civilization, Economics, AP Art History.

Students are required to earn a total of 2 credits in Fine Arts, which may be composed of year-long and semester-long courses.

Year-long courses include Advanced Chorale, Band, Drama, Orchestra, Honors Music, Honors Studio Art, and AP Studio Art.

Semester-long courses include 2D Art, Ceramics, Metals, Photography, and Woodworking.

All students are required to earn .5 credit of Computer Science. 

Semester-long courses include: Computer Science Foundations, Game Design, Robotics. Year-long courses include AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A.

Students are required to earn .5 credits of Health.

(All 10th-grade students take one semester of Health.)

Students are required to earn a total of 1.5 credits in Physical Education (P.E.). 

All 9th-grade students are required to take the year-long P.E. course for 1 credit.

The additional .5 credit will be earned in 10th grade by taking the semester-long P.E. course or by completing a Country Day athletic season in one or more of the following: Athletic Training, Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball.   

All 12th-grade students are required to take Global Humanities.

All 10th-grade students take Financial Literacy during class meetings. 

*This requirement does not apply to the class of 2027.

Elective offerings change yearly and are announced in March and finalized in June.
