    Sharing; developing a sense of belonging; perspectivetaking; group participation.

    We implement an integrated, holistic approach to character development. Values of respect, honesty, and caring, as well as intellectual autonomy, leadership, and resilience are intentionally and contextually woven into the fabric of a child’s school day. We offer multiple opportunities within our curriculum and community interactions for children to practice ethical behavior. Students learn to view themselves as responsible members of a learning community with collective needs and guidelines.

  • Grade 5

    Overnight retreat to build class identity, manage challenges, develop leadership skills and relationships; buddies to Pre-K students; SWATS program to facilitate service learning and leadership.
  • Grade 6

    In keeping with the school’s mission, opportunities to teach, nurture and practice the values that build children of strong character are integrated into every aspect of school life. This is accomplished in and out of the classroom, through advisory, student government, mentoring, community service and outdoor education. The focus is on respect, courage, honor, curiosity and community.
  • Grade 7

    In keeping with the school’s mission, opportunities to teach, nurture and practice the values that build children of strong character are integrated into every aspect of school life.   • Grades 9-12

    Members of the Upper School Student Government oversee the Honor and Discipline Committees, and all students sign the Honor Pledge.

Established in 1929, Metairie Park Country Day School is a coed private school for New Orleans area students in early childhood through Grade 12. From the elementary grades through upper school, the care and cultivation of each child comes to life in our exciting academic program, creative arts, and competitive athletic offerings.
