Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher

Metairie Park Country Day School seeks an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working with young people to fill the position of Middle/Upper School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. A Bachelor’s degree and near-native fluency are required. An advanced degree in Spanish and study and/or living in a Spanish-speaking country are preferred. This full-time, 10-month position includes a comprehensive benefits package along with all school-year holidays. 


Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Teaching up to five sections of Spanish in Middle and Upper School. 
  • Developing an independent curriculum that joyfully and rigorously engages students through immersion in Spanish and research-based methods of language acquisition.
  • Collaborating with members of the World Languages Department to coordinate and connect curricular goals aligned with ACTFL World-Readiness standards.
  • Advising Middle or Upper School students. 
  • Attending and participating in faculty, grade level, and departmental meetings.
  • Supporting professional development opportunities, both scheduled and outside work hours, as needed. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or a division principal.
  • Supporting the Mission of the School and its leadership. 
  • Being an active member of a community that centers inclusion and belonging; guiding students toward upholding the value in diversity of cultures, beliefs and perspectives, as well as supporting them in navigating issues inherent in equity and justice. 

The goals of the Country Day World Languages Department are to offer students a culturally relevant World Language experience, teach for research-based language acquisition, and instill in our students a love of learning another language. Students graduate from Country Day with a strong proficiency in a second language and an excellent understanding of the culture and diversity of our multilingual world.
