Associates Dinner 2006
11/24/2006
On Thursday, November 9th, Head of School Carolyn Chandler hosted the first event in the Head's new home. Appropriately, this event honored those who have made leadership gifts at the Associates level or above during the last two fiscal years.

The Associates Dinner is held each year in November to thank those who make Associates level or greater ($1,500+) gifts to the Annual Fund during the previous fiscal year. Typically, one of these generous donors opens their home to these benefactors, and hosts the event for Country Day. To alleviate the pressure of "hosting" after the devastation of hurricane Katrina, and to show off the amazing work that Country Day's physical plant staff and volunteers accomplished to make the campus look better than ever, Carolyn Chandler thought it appropriate to bring the masses to Country Day.

The lovely evening was attended by approximately 100 of the School's most generous donors. During remarks to the guests, Carolyn spoke of the impact their donations made to individual students on campus. Many students would not be able to study here or would not be able to enjoy the exciting programs that Country Day has to offer if it were not for a strong annual fund.

Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath brought more financial challenges than usual to Country Day. Carolyn thanked Katrina Recovery Campaign Chair, John Georges, and Board of Trustees Chair, Tommy Coleman, for their amazing leadership and commitment during this critical time. Under their leadership, Country Day re-opened sooner than anyone expected, and over $4.3 million has been raised in just under a year toward Katrina relief.

For those who had seen 350 Park before it's post-Katrina renovation, it was truly an eye-opening evening. With volunteer time and help from Jeanne Barousse and Reecee Lanier, the home offered a beautiful setting for this event.

If you are interested in joining the Associates program and making a tremendous impact on the life of Country Day's campus and students, please contact the Development Office at (504) 849-3112. We would love to see you at next year's event!
