Country Day Celebrates New Middle School Opening
8/21/2003
The Country Day community convened for Opening Ceremonies with a special twist - the opening of the new Middle School. Following the traditional Opening Ceremonies in the Lupin Gymnasium, the faculty and student body walked over to the new Middle School Courtyard, where they were joined by parents and friends. The entire community celebrated this milestone achievement in the history of the school. The new space, designed specifically with Middle Schoolers in mind, provides innovative classroom spaces, new locker alcoves, and a beautiful courtyard. Head David Drinkwater welcomed the crowd on the festive occasion and thanked the generous Promises To Keep Campaign donors who made the day possible. Special thanks were given to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar A.G. Bright, Jr. for their outstanding leadership gift to the campaign, along with the entire Bright family. Board member Nancy Hales, who also chairs the Buildings and Grounds committee, shared her thoughts on the commemorative occasion. Susan Dorner conducted the traditional ringing of the bell to signify the opening of the school year. Finally, the ceremony concluded with a special ribbon cutting ceremony in which members of the Bright family and other special guests cut a red and blue ribbon with balloons attached. As the ribbon and balloons floated away into the sky, the crowd cheered for the opening of another great school year.
