Middle School English Teacher

Metairie Park Country Day School seeks an experienced, technologically-astute educator who enjoys working with young people to fill the position of Middle School English Teacher. A Bachelor’s degree is required with an advanced degree preferred. Experience teaching middle school aged children is also preferred. This full-time, 10-month position includes a comprehensive benefits package along with all school year holidays. The Middle School English Teacher reports to the Middle School Principal.
The goals of the Country Day English curriculum are to teach students to read and think critically, to write with clarity and insight, and to value reading both for its intrinsic pleasure and its ability to help shape one’s moral and social conscience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teaching four or five sections of English;
  • Focusing on active reading, text-based discussion in a seminar format, and analytical writing, revision, and editing
  • Supervision of extracurricular activities
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or a division principal
  • Supporting the Mission of the school and its leadership.
