Early Childhood Co-Teacher

Metairie Park Country Day School seeks an experienced early childhood teacher who enjoys working with young children to fill the full-time position of Early Childhood Co-Teacher. A Bachelor’s degree with teaching experience is strongly preferred. This 10-month position includes eligibility to participate in our comprehensive benefits package along with all school year holidays.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Planning and executing developmentally appropriate activities using resources such as Creative Curriculum.
  • Creating a child-centered learning environment that fosters learning about the world and exploring interests.
  • Attending to the needs of all children and meeting Type III licensing requirements.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with parents through Brightwheel, emails, and in-person meetings. Working to establish a team approach with families.
  • Effectively collaborating with a co-teacher to distribute classroom responsibilities.
  • Providing individualized student support including assisting children with self help skills, toileting, and diapering as needed.
  • Engaging in developmentally appropriate play with children in order to extend it and facilitate growth.
  • Maintaining positive interactions with children, parents, faculty, and administrators.
  • Using TSGold as an evaluation tool to assess the progress of the students and inform classroom planning.
  • Working intentionally with age-level, divisional, and cross-divisional colleagues to research, collaborate, and plan best practices of teaching and learning.
  • Being an open and active participant in professional learning.
  • Being an active member of the community as we work toward DEIB goals, understanding the need for building inclusive spaces.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Director.
  • Supporting the Mission of the school and its leadership.
