Clarence Roby III 2010 Named First Tee Scholar 1/22/2010 Clarence Roby III 2010 has been awarded the designation of First Tee Scholar. He is the first local student to receive the honor since the chapter's creation in 2003.
As reported in The Times-Picayune, this designation entitles Clarence to apply for scholarships at colleges and universities that have partnered with the First Tee organization, a program that began in 2001 and recognizes participants for exceptional achievement in academics, leadership, character development, and chapter and community involvement. First Tee was founded in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation in St. Augustine, Fla. Its mission is to affect the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and education programs that promote character development through golf. Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand and Singapore participate in the program, and former President George H.W. Bush is the honorary chairman.
