Merritt Van Meter 2010 has made a verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for Pole Vault. The signing event will be held at Country Day later this spring.

Merritt was the Outstanding In-State Girls Field Performer at the LSU High School Indoor Classic track meet in January. As reported in The Advocate, Merritt won the pole vault in 13-2, a national best and an effort that was eight inches better than her previous best. Merritt’s outstanding performance has been noted on several Web sites, including dyestat.com and trackandfieldnews.com. Merritt also has been named to the 2009 Track & Field All-American Team.
