The problems that face our world today require the solutions of tomorrow. By fostering the creative spirit and by developing complex problem-solving skills across disciplines and divisions, Country Day teaches our students not what to think, but how to think.

Each day, our faculty encourages students to explore the infinite possibilities around them and challenges them to dream, invent, construct, and propel themselves beyond the now. As art, science, mathematics, engineering, and technology become increasingly integrated, we are energized by the opportunity to enhance our learning space to enable our students to forge the solutions of tomorrow.

Science and Engineering Building
The new 10,000-square-foot Science and Engineering Building will support the remarkable teaching already in place at Country Day while providing the framework for future growth. The new building will house an engineering laboratory, a computer science classroom, and physics, chemistry, and biology classrooms.

These classrooms will have state-of-the-art equipment and technology, such as a microcontroller, a fabrication center equipped with an industrial laser cutter, 3D and large-scale 2D printers, programmable robotics equipment, and a math-modeling workstation.

Located just off the Front Circle and adjacent to the Coleman Family Dining Room, this building will not only allow students to partake in advanced science and engineering instruction but will also help further establish Country Day’s reputation as a leader in these fields.

Coleman Family Dining Room
Ask Country Day students or alumni to name their favorite traditions at our school, and you will no doubt hear about Country Day’s dining room experience. Oak hardwood floors, white tablecloths, and family-style meals have been an essential part of a Country Day education since 1929. Students from varying grades sit around a table under the guidance of a teacher to discuss their day, get to know each other better, and enjoy a healthy, chef-prepared meal. This unique shared experience has come to represent much more than lunch.

The expanded and renovated Coleman Family Dining Room will not only ease crowding but will also bring students together in a more comfortable, open setting, so they can continue this cherished tradition in one room. Adjacent to the space will be a terrace and landscaped courtyard, which will provide gathering space and a venue for hosting outdoor special events.

Art and Lower School Science Building
Interpretation, exploration, and invention are all hallmarks of a Country Day education. A more usable physical space for art and lower school science instruction will further enrich the collaboration organically taking place between these disciplines while providing our students with a more suitable canvas to explore their myriad interests.

The 10,000-square-foot Art and Lower School Science Building will be renovated entirely to provide space for a lower school science classroom, as well as lower, middle, and upper school art classrooms and studio space. Clerestory windows on the third floor will add natural light to the art studios. This newly renovated building will provide an adaptable, dynamic space for students studying painting, metals, drawing, photography, and AP Studio Art.
