Brendan Minihan, Sr., Metairie Park Country Day School’s Chief Financial Officer, has been presented the Will J. Hancock award by the National Business Officers Association (NBOA). The award honors business officers “who have made a profound difference at their schools,” and “whose work has changed their school’s community dramatically.”

The purpose of the NBOA is to give the business officer in every stage of his or her career the tools to be an effective leader. Membership is open to representatives from independent schools in the United States, international independent schools, nonprofit organizations working with independent schools, for-profit corporations serving independent schools, and business officers retired from independent schools.

Will J. Hancock was one of the founders and the former Associate Director of NBOA. “Hancock exemplified what it means to be a business officer: to serve the students well, you need to be in tune with the needs of everyone on campus, including teachers, students, administrators, and staff,” according to the NBOA.

Past recipients of the award include business officers from Albuquerque Academy (New Mexico), Buckingham, Browne and Nichols (Massachusetts), Sidwell Friends School (Washington, DC), Chestnut Hill Academy (Pennsylvania), The Hockaday School (Texas), Garrison Forest School (Maryland), and San Francisco Friends School (California).

Commenting on Minihan’s distinguished award, Head of School Carolyn Chandler noted, “At a time of economic challenge in our country, Country Day is fortunate to have a nationally recognized Chief Financial Officer leading its business office and ensuring that the School continues to maintain its financial strength and stability.”
