When is the best time for a student to visit college campuses?
We recommend that families can start to visit colleges as early as the ninth grade. A good idea is to visit a college while you are on vacation (summer, winter, Mardi Gras and spring). These visits should be aimed at gathering impressions of the characteristics of the different colleges and not if it is a good match for the student. In this way, when the student enters the junior year they will have more concrete ideas concerning the type of college they want to attend. Information on college campus visits can be found in the College Counseling Handbook.

Are there resources for the ACT and SAT at Country Day?
College PowerPrep Success support materials enabling students to increase their college entrance test scores on the SAT and /or ACT exams. These materials include SAT and ACT tutoring software, SAT video and video workbook masters, diagnostic testing, and online support information to aid in college selection, financing and scholarships. All materials are available to students either through the US library or the US computer lab and/or through their home computer via the Internet using the school's password. If interested, please contact one of the College Advisors.

When do I get to work with my College Advisor?
Although information for the college process starts in the ninth grade, you will get to select a College Advisor in the fall of your junior year. At that time you and your parents will be able to sit down with the College Advisor and start to discuss the process in a more personal manner.

When do most seniors apply to college?
Seniors typically start to apply right after Labor Day. Students who are applying to schools on Rolling Admission plans are encouraged to apply early. Students who are applying to college that have a specific deadline need to have those turned into the College Advisor at least two weeks prior to the due date. For specific information, please see your College Advisor.

Where can I get information on applying for financial aid?
